Have you ever been working toward a goal and things did not end up going as you planned?

We’ve all been there.

Today we will be talking about the sixth habit from Successful Women Think Differently.

Habit #6: Be prepared for battle

In celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Successful Women Think Differently, we are walking through the nine habits to make you happier, healthier, and more resilient. Habit number six is about expecting obstacles and having a plan to overcome them.

I don’t care how great things look at the outset, you should expect the unexpected and be prepared. But you should know that you have it within you to find the resources, the knowledge, the know-how, and the strength to push through those obstacles.

In the faces of their challenges, the most successful people have what’s called an optimistic thinking style. This doesn’t mean that they don’t see the challenges in front of them. It also doesn’t mean they’re unrealistically positive about everything.

It means they see the challenge in front of them, and they believe in their ability to find a way through, around, or over whatever that challenge happens to be.

So what is the challenge you are facing right now? How might you shift your attitude to find a way beyond that challenge?

You might need to learn a new skill. You might need to ask for help. You might even need to tweak or drop the goal in favor of something that would be more realistic for you right now.

Those who are most successful think differently by being resilient enough to adjust and be flexible when the unexpected happens.
